What do I do once I have placed my order online?

How do I pay for my order?


If ordering online, payment is made when order is placed or cash/check needs to be sent with your package. We accept PayPal, Debit/Credit Card, Cash, Check or USPS Money Order. If you are using Cash, Check or USPS Money Order, it must be with the slide to avoid delays. Want an additional 10% off? If you are paying with cash, check or Money Order made out to Doug Presson, you can take an additional 10% off your total! Whatever the total shows at the bottom of your order, take 10% off that. Do not include DP Custom Works on the check.




What are the current turnaround times?


The current turnaround times can be found on the contact page.




Is refinishing included with the cuts?


No. Refinishing is an extra charge. The cut areas will be raw metal and need to be refinished in some way. You are more than welcome to handle refinishing. If we do not handle refinishing, the cut areas will be deburred and media blasted before returning to you. If you want the entire slide media blasted, please add that to your order. Media blasting can be found on the Misc Products page.




Do you have a source for Melonite?


Yes, we have a source for Melonite. This is not Cerakote. Melonite is going to be the most durable refinishing option we offer and a very similar coating to most factory finishes.




Where can I find the Cerakote colors?


Our Cerakote work is done by Weapon Works LLC. You can find most of the examples on their website. You can also look at the Cerakote website to see colors.




Do you offer discounts for Military(active or retired), LEO(active or retired), FireFighter(active or retired) or First Responders(active or retired) and how do I get the discount code?


Yes! We off a 20% discount for LEO/Military/FireFighter/First Responders(active or retired). Send an email to doug@dpcustomworksllc.com and include a photo of your LEO/Military/FireFighter/First Responders ID or some sort of proof to receive the discount code for orders. PLEASE REQUEST THE DISCOUNT CODE BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER. Discounts only apply to slide cuts, refinishing, optics and some other items. Enter the code here before checkout.




Can I send my frame to DP Custom Works for frame work?


Yes. Shipping of serialized parts can be handled through us because we are a licensed FFL dealer. FFL number: 1-56-xxx-xx-xx-13466. We can provide a FILE copy of our FFL to you or your shipping source if needed. For serialized parts and complete firearms, we are required to ship it back to the address that is listed on your government issued ID (i.e. driver's license, passport, military ID, etc.) that you provide. Please send a copy of your government issues ID with your serialized part. (frame) It is required by law that a person that does not possess a valid FFL, must ship handguns by 2nd day air with a contract carrier (UPS, FEDEX, etc.). Make sure your firearm is unloaded and do not send ammo with your firearm.




How do I ship my SLIDE ONLY? Are there any laws regarding shipping slides?


You can send a slide however you would like. An FFL or overnight shipping is NOT required for sending a slide only. We normally use Priority Flat Rate Shipping for slides.




Can I add return shipping insurance to the package that will return to me?

Do I have to submit my order through the online store?


You can but you do not have to. Placing an order online is the easiest way to place an order. If you are not sure what you want done, you can email us to discuss options. Once we discuss what you would like, we will then walk you thorugh placing the order or email you an order form. You can then send your slide and order form in for the work requested.




What kind of warranty or guarantee do you offer, and what is your return policy?


Anything that we work on, finish or build is covered by our limited lifetime warranty. If your firearm or finish ever cracks, peels, chips, or breaks as a result of our workmanship, we will repair, replace, or refinish it at no cost to you. We cannot cover excessive wear from normal use (i.e. holster marks, blemishes from dropping or abuse, etc.). Cerakote is durable but it is a paint. If you use your Cerakoted slide in a holster, you will eventually see holster wear. We cannot refinish your slide every time you see holster wear. If you use your gun as a carry gun or use it in lots of range practice or competitions, we recommend Black Nitride for refinishing the slide. We also cannot warranty guns that are used in a police or military application. Our return policy is that if you are unhappy with our work, or with any products you receive from us, please feel free to contact us, and we will work on correcting the issue. If you decide you do not want any product you buy from us (custom work is not included in this, i.e. slide cuts or frame modifications), we will accept returns within 15 days of you receiving the product, given the items are in an unaltered from the condition we shipped it in.




What parts can be coated in Melonite, Cerakote and/or TiN/AlTiN/Nickel?


With Melonite or Tin/AlTiN/Nickel coatings, most any ferrous metal can be treated. Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum cannot be coated in Melonite or Tin/AlTiN/Nickel coatings. With Cerakote, virtually any part of a gun that is not made of rubber can be coated. However, our policy is to not coat any critical contact points (sears, safeties, triggers, disconnectors, etc.), aftermarket match triggers, springs or pistol barrels. Some springs that are attached permanently to a gun must sometimes be coated. In these instances, these springs will be coated, but we will not coat anything that will affect the function of your firearm.




I'm from outside the USA. Can you take my order?


We can only accept work from within the USA.




Can I place an order during a sale and combine it will an order from another sale?


No, unless the sales have the same discounts. Example: You can not order a 40% off Slide Cut Package from one of our Slide Cut Package Only Sales and hold it until we have a 20% off Eerything Sale and combine them on the same slide.




Do you sell gift certificates and how long are they good for?


We do offer gift certificates. Those can be purchased by emailing us. Gift Certificates are not sold under any discounts or promotions. Although, a gift certificate purchased as full price can be used during a sell. All gift certificates expire one (1) year from date of origination.




How long do I have to pay for my work once completed?


Payment is required before your slide/frame will be returned. We will notify you at the email on file once your item is finished and ready to ship. If payment is not made within 60 days of that notification, your item is subject to be sold to cover cost. If there is going to be a delay in the payment process, please notify us before hand and we can work out the details.




Can I cancel part or all of my order and get a refund?


You can cancel part or all of your order and get a refund (minus 3%) within 60 days of placing the order. There is a 3% fee for cancelling an order because we do not get the processing fee back on our end. Any orders cancelled 60 days after the order is placed will not be issued a refund. If we have already shipped your order, you will not get a refund on the shipping charge.




How do I ship my FRAME with slide also? Are there any laws regarding shipping frames?

You can send your frame and slide together. You do not have to send them in seperate packages.




Can I drop off my item?


Yes. Drop off hours are normally Monday through Friday from 8am-3pm eastern standard time but those hours may vary from day to day. Please contact us to schedule a day and time to drop off and/or pick up.




If I have a discount code, what all do that apply to?


Discount codes only apply to slide cuts, refinishing, optics and some other items.
